Workshop registration for ICE Conference 2012 is closed. For those people who have already registered for one or more workshops or Administrator Academy sessions, you may view or download the room assignments for each of the four conference days by clicking the link below. The locations on the charts refer to facilities used for workshops at Pheasant Run as well as the Hilton Garden Inn and the Advanced Center for Training directly across North Avenue. The Hilton Garden Inn and ACT Center are connected via an indoor walkway. ICE Shuttle Buses are available about every fifteen minutes to transport attendees between the two locations. Maps for the ACT Center and all locations in Pheasant Run are available in the conference program book; the three rooms in the Hilton Garden Inn are all adjacent to the lobby and easy to locate.

Now there’s an App for that! Yes, ICE has taken the plunge, and we know that ICE members will LOVE our Conference App, EventLink. A native app is available for iPhone/iPad and Android, a hybrid web-based version for BlackBerry, and a web-based version for any smartphone or tablet that has web-enabled browser capability. The app provides many useful (and just plain fun) features for use during the conference and beyond. App users will be able to:
You can download the App now – of course it’s FREE - and play awhile to get familiar with its features. You can scan the QR code, search Illinois Computing Educators in the Apple and Android App stores, or go to http://m.core-apps.com/ice-il2012 to locate the app for your device.
To get the most out of the app, check out the "Tip Sheet" for your device, available below and on the app dashboard by clicking/tapping on Show Documents. Tip Sheet for Android devices |
For ICE this year, we've asked all of the major news outlets in Chicago to join ICE for a roundtable discussion entitled: The Media and Education: Pointing Toward the Positive. On Thursday morning, March 1, Larry Yellen from FOX Chicago, Dorothy Tucker of CBS, Rob Elgas of NBC-5, and Leah Hope from ABC-7, will join me on stage to talk about the current state of education in the news. We’re going to highlight some of the stories that are currently playing in the headlines, deconstruct them, and talk about how those headlines get made. What feeds the education news machine? We’ll then open up our discussion and take questions we’ve harvested from online sources, as well as from the audience.
"Social Networking"
Don't miss out on some incredible opportunities for social networking and FUN that are on deck for the ICE conference this year! Plan ahead, stay the night and enjoy the merriment! On Wednesday and Thursday nights, February 29 and March 1, Pheasant Run is the place to be!
Wednesday, Feb 29

Volunteers play an important role in the ICE Conference, and we invite you to consider joining us and volunteering your time and services at one of the many locations around the conference facility. It’s a chance to have fun and work with a great group of people, and it is also an opportunity to earn a $75 reimbursement toward your paid Thursday and/or Friday “General Conference” fees. Volunteers play an important role in the ICE Conference, and we invite you to consider joining us and volunteering your time and services at one of the many locations around the conference facility. It’s a chance to have fun and work with a great group of people, and it is also an opportunity to earn a $75 reimbursement of your paid General Conference fees.
Here are the details of the program:
Volunteers indicate their desire to work a 2-3 hour shift at the conference by completing an online volunteer form at the following address: http://tinyurl.com/ICE2012volunteer
Volunteers register for the Thursday and/or Friday General Conference days online at http://www.iceberg.org and pay the full $110 fee for each conference day they plan to attend.
Volunteers will be notified by a member of the planning committee in the days before the conference so that they know their specific schedule and assigned duties.
Volunteers will check-in at the volunteer table when they arrive at Pheasant Run to receive a special T-shirt and conference information.
After the conference, if all volunteer obligations have been met, volunteers will receive $75 back for each General Conference day (Thursday and/or Friday) on which they worked.
Special note: We welcome and need volunteers for all workshop and General Conference days, but due to potential scheduling conflicts, only those people who register for a General Conference day on Thursday and/or Friday and pay the registration fee of $110 per day are eligible to receive the $75 volunteer reimbursement. Volunteer reimbursement cannot be applied to any Workshop ($150) registration. A one-year membership to ICE is given to all people who pay for a General Conference day on Thursday, March 1, or Friday, March 2.
We encourage all conference attendees and exhibitors to stay at the Pheasant Run Resort and Conference Center in St. Charles, Illinois. It is the most convenient place to stay since it is the same facility that we use for all conference events and activities. We have negotiated special rates for people who attend the conference, so if you speak to someone at the Pheasant Run reservation desk, be sure to mention that you are attending ICE Conference 2012 to get the special rates.
